There are no more than six guests per Workshop, allowing for individual attention from David.
The Old Pharmacy is close to all facilities: within a few hundred yards are a bank, bakery, shops, three restaurants and an English speaking doctor. (The house was fully renovated a few years ago and is David’s own family retreat.
(see the ‘Our base’ page).
The usual schedule is to leave Magalas around 9am (or as early as guests wish to).
David plans for two major or different locations per day, usually within about one hours drive from base. Packed lunches are taken, and are often enjoyed whilst on location.
A typical day’s photography might include a visit to the lovely medieval market town of Pezenas with its intriguing mix of two distinct photographic disciplines: reportage at the bustling traditional market, and architecture in the medieval Old Towns’ Jewish Quarter. Here the winding streets and alleyways are awash with the patina of time on ancient stone, and offer many and varied photo opportunities.
Some locations involve moderate exercise to get the most out of their potential.
Please contact David if you have any health or mobility issues.
Itineraries can vary with the preferences and interests of the guests. David always has a choice of itineraries available and will stop on request for any spontaneous picture opportunities.
Complimentary water, soft drinks, and local wines are provided at the house and in transit to locations. Lunch, snacks ‘on the move’ or evening dinner (except for the first night) are not included in the price.
Non-photographer partners are welcome, and are offered a discount on the normal rate. The Languedoc is such a visually rich and stimulating region that non-photographers can enjoy simply touring the area. Indeed, some locations (such as the market town of Pezenas are as enjoyable for their own sake as much as their photographic qualities!). And it doesn’t take a photographers eye to enjoy a splendid glass of local wine in good company in the evening !
*We provide free transfer from our recommended flights to Magalas. See the ‘Getting there’ page for further details.

Hi David,
Thought i'd drop you a quick e-mail to say thanks for the very enjoyable weekend in Magalas and the surrounding area. Both Martina and myself found it a great experience.
We both intend to put to good use the advice you shared with us and hopefully we'll be in a good position to thrash the opposition in our club events! The grand total of images taken is fairly respectable with Martina having managed 550 and me with 502 and we're about to begin process of sorting the wheat from the chaff. First impressions on the "big screen" are certainly superior to the laptop, so it's looking good.
Thanks again.

Dear david
Thanks so much for helping to revitalize my photography, and for introducing me to the local wines !
I especially thought the bridge at Millau was the most awesome photo subject I could ever have imagined ! And then your previous words about thinking about alternative angles really inspired me to think past a picture postcard view.
I had great fun and learned a lot at the same time. And my bedroom was the most charming place I have ever stayed in !
Best regards and I hope to get there again,
Dennis Lound
