David Muscroft brings his unrivalled experience to his Photography Holiday Workshops situated in the Languedoc, southern France.
Based at The Old Pharmacy in Magalas, his comfortable townhouse, David’s passion for photography is used to full effect in taking his guests to the visual cream of locations within about an hour’s drive. Here you will have the opportunity to build on your existing skill levels and techniques, and with his experience in photographing the Languedoc learn how to work the light and space and return with great personal images.
David’s photography workshops are designed for the typical enthusiast photographer, who may have a DSLR, may even be a camera club member, and for whom using the major camera controls will be no mystery (a grasp of photo-technique and basic Photoshop image enhancement would be an advantage in making full use of the photo-opportunities on the Workshop, but not entirely necessary).
David does not take you along the normal tourist trail, but exploits his in-depth knowledge to reveal the hidden treasures and huge visual variety of the region.

Achieve your goals
David’s emphasis is not on teaching what you can gain from a textbook (digital workflow, Photoshop manipulation etc) but how to use time on location to best effect.
With David’s expert guidance you can achieve the rewarding goal of building on your existing abilities. He will demonstrate how to capture iconic images, not mere picture postcards. Guided by his decades of experience in producing contemporary stock photography, his guests will explore how to create great personal images.
David does not advocate the reliance on Photoshop to ‘lift’ ordinary pictures, and uses only a few tried, trusted and simple techniques of picture enhancement himself. These he will share with you on return to base. His expertise is in encouraging his guests to enhance their own skills, in working the light and space, and inspiring them with his enthusiasm for creating superb images of France.
Non-photographer partners
The photographic locations David takes his guests to are also very special in themselves. Most are hugely popular tourist destinations in themselves (though Workshops are outside peak holiday times).
As a non-photographer guest you will enjoy the experience of southern France just as much as your camera-laden partner. You have the time to fully savour the climate, sights and flavours of this very special area of Mediterranean France. David will also make every effort to guide you in how best to enjoy your stay in the Languedoc.
